Energy Usage at Conventional Waste Water Treatment Plants

Municipal wastewater treatment using MNB Flotation for preliminary stage

Solids and Colloids reduction in effluent using MNB Flotation allows to achieve loads reductions:

  • COD total – up to 75-80%
  • COD dissolved – up to 40-45%
  • TSS – up to 100%
  • TN – 40-70%
  • TP – 30- 50%
  • FOG – up to 100%
From removed solids we can get about 30% more biogas than from mixed sludge. Because of Hydroxyl Radicals better bio-degrability of pollutants Microorganisms are activated by the oxygen inside MNB and takes place Nitrogen treatment with non diluting wastewater

Savings from MNB Flotation use for preliminary wastewater treatment

  1. Finally only 12 – 20% of COD needs to be treated biologically using microorganism aeration energy savings
  2. Treating of dissolved organic matter is 195 times faster than solids or colloids much smaller bioreactor
  3. Less excess sludge – lower sludge separation and dewatering costs
  4. Nitrogen treatment without wastewater diluting – smaller bioreactors and no power consumed for wastewater recirculation
28% OPEX reduction reported after MNB Flotation running in municipal wwt. plant in Poland in 2015 Józefów n. Błonia

Aeration using MNB Oxygen Transfer Efficiency Comparison

Ozone Nano-Bubbles

  • Injecting Ozone in Nano-bubbles we have high concentrated hydroxyl radicals OH* which are stronger oxidizers than Ozone
  • In contrast, Ozone O3 is a highly selective oxidant. When micro-bubbles of ozone collapse, the ozone progressively decomposes and large quantities of hydroxyl radicals are generated.
  • Using the same volume of Ozone which allows to achieve 99,99% disinfection efficiency when with Ozone in Nano-Bubbles we can achieve 99,9999%
